Kinetic Rounds

"Slipstream"

Mobile Infantry Kinetic Round

circa 2002

R&D

Project Slipstream was a POC-(Proof Of Concept) for a Mobile Infantry Kinetic Round that gains kinetic energy as it traveled to the target. It was derived after 911, to counteract the standard parabolic curve and corresponding energy loss (penetration) effects of modern rounds, to produce a linear glide slope with a progressive gain in kinetic energy (when fired from military weapon system).

POC Test

In 2002, a successful field test was performed in Florida, using a modified military 50. Cal barrel attached to a breach test bench. Ten CNC billet milled "slipstream" rounds were placed into a custom 50. Cal injection mold, that was hot poured (filled) with my POC proprietary pliable propellant. Once solidified (cooled), it produced a 50. Cal caseless Kinetic Slipstream" round.  :)

Six kinetic rounds were successfully molded and fired at a 16x16ft plywood target 1600 meters away, producing a 8" by 10" inch grouping. Setting a record for penetrating depth, compared to a standard comparable 50cal round/munition.  The 7th round exploded in the breach, destroying the bench test.

The remaining unmolded billets, where distributed to my OIC (who funded the endeavor), another to the CNC operator (who machined the billets and Negative 50cal mold), and the gunsmith (who made the bench test and set up the 1600m test range)-circa 2002.    :)

In 2007...

Years later, I decided to file for a US patient, since "slipstream" was my POC, billet design, and proprietary chemical compound concoction-(propellant).

However, after seeing so many lawsuits-by patent lawyers (who intentionally falter paperwork or would reapply/sell correct paperwork to highest bidder) and the hoards of "Patent Trolls" - who shamelessly infringe, exploit, or steal patents; I decided to protect my "Slipstream kinetic round from being stolen or worse.  So I just moved on. :/

So like many of my R&D endeavors,

it will now live preposterously

 next to the

"Ark of the Covenant "

...End of Line

Fun Fact:

About to launch a Rocket, while in the 2nd grade, in Lake Placid Florida

When I was in the 2nd grade, I made and launched model Rockets in Lake Placid, Florida. By the time I was in High school in Alexandria, Virginia, I was making large homemade experimental sugar rockets (with my pyrotechnic blend of fuel, oxidizer, and additives) to increase the burn rate/thrust-without explosions, "accidents," or teachable moments... lol :)

But it was not until after 911 that all my prior experiences with rockets and making chemical/pyrotechnic blends coalesced into allowing me to make a POC- Proof of Concept, the world's first kinetic weapon system using experimental rounds called "Slipstream."

Happy Happy Joy Joy :)

My experimental Mach sugar rocket in Alexandria, Virginia,

for my High school science fair. :)

FYI.

The Rocket I made and brought to my school was a  "Live" Rocket,

which contained 11.8 lbs of pyrotechnic (explosive) Rocket motor.  :o
